Walled Lake History

amusement park ride against night skyWalled Lake was once a quiet, rural community that was home to around 400 residents. That was back in 1877 and before the city entered what is known as the Golden Years. The railroad and gravel roads began to change the tone of the town around the year 1900. The quiet town soon turned into a bustling community that was packed with people who were seeking the lake living experience.

It wasn’t long before the area was visited by some of the best bands, singers, and stars of the day. The Casino Pavilion had the attention of residents and visitors who came to see entertainers like Louis Armstrong, Glen Miller, and Lawrence Welk. Sadly, the Casino burned down in 1965, but no one has forgotten the impact it had on this once quiet village.

In the 1950s you would find Walled Lake alive and thriving, with a popular amusement park and crowds that were eager to enjoy the warm weather and lake activities. As the years passed, the park was eventually closed, and the Golden Years ended. However, Walled Lake was still destined to be home to those who love lake living.
