The Farmington Area
Farmington was founded in 1824 on the site of 3 Native American trails and is home to the Farmington Historic District.
Farmington pays homage to its history by maintaining historic structures, many of which still have original features such as brick walls and wood floors. Yet, while maintaining historic integrity, Farmington is also in the process of renovation and remodeling to accommodate modern amenities and creature comforts.
The sidewalks of Grand River Avenue, Farmington’s main street, are adorned with small town shops and boutiques, as well as hidden gems like the Basement Burger Bar and other basement restaurants. A stroll down the avenue will find residents greeting each other by name. Because it’s a small city in Oakland County, with a population of only about 10,000 residents, Farmington is recognized by the locals as being a safe area to live.
